“Great B&B in Eastern Connecticut” - February 2014

My fiance and I spent a night here in February. We had a fantastic time. The house itself is gorgeous. We stayed in the Victorian Room and it was great.

Jeff and Maryan were extremely friendly. This was our first time at a B&B and we will certainly be back. We are both vegetarians, and Maryan was very accommodating with making great food that we could eat for breakfast. There is also a very good vegan restaurant in the nearby town of Chester.

We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great B&B in the area!

"A hidden gem in Haddam Connecticut" - January 2014

Left on 01/04/2014 for a stay in December 2013.  Initially we chose The Nehemiah Brainerd House as a convenient location to visit friends who live nearby. What a wonderful choice we made! The moment we arrived, there was a warm and friendly welcome from the proud owners of this most beautiful house. Jeff and Maryann love their home and have furnished it with care and the greatest attention to detail. When we arrived it was decked out for the festive season, making it the perfect setting for a winter break.

We stayed in the Library Room, complete with a range of interesting bedtime reading. It was so beautifully decorated and incredibly comfortable, with great views of the snowy landscape at the front of the house. The well stocked bathroom provided all we needed and the bathrobes were a great addition.
We really enjoyed being able to relax in the sitting room in the evenings. This was our favourite room, decorated to perfection with artefacts in keeping with the history of the house. However, the dining room was also furnished with the same attention to detail. Breakfast was beautifully served and was simply delicious.
Although we stayed here in the winter, it was clear to see that The Nehemiah Brainerd House is a great place to stay in all seasons. There is a lovely garden room with spectacular views over the Connecticut River, as well as acres of garden to enjoy. The local area has so many interesting places to visit, with activities year round.

We have stayed in similar properties in the USa but this has been the best so far. Jeff and Maryann are the most gracious hosts. They go to extra lengths to make your stay enjoyable. We loved our time here so much that we would love to come back again.

“One of the nicest B&B experiences!” - December 2013

We have stayed in many B&Bs- but this one was outstanding. The innkeepers could not have been more helpful and genuinely nice. They like people- which you expect from an innkeeper, but not all convey this like Maryan and Jeff, who were helpful with directions and great conversationalists. The house is beautifully restored and filled with gorgeous antiques, and it set on a lovely piece of land overlooking the Connecticut River. The mattress was the most comfortable I've ever slept on. We only stayed one night, and normally I like to try different towns for variety, but we will definitely be back in the spring to check out that season in the Haddam area, and stay with Mayan and Jeff again. Looking forward to it already!

"One of the best B&B experiences we've had" - December 2013

We stay at many B&Bs and/ or small inns when possible, and we've had the gamut of experiences. It was so great to stay with Maryan and Jeff at the Nehemiah Brainerd House because from the beginning, we felt welcomed and the owners made me feel like we were real guests, which, oddly enough, is a rare experience in the B&B field. The house itself is amazing and has been lovingly restored with beautiful antiques, yet feels as if you are stepping back in time. Our room was charming and the bed was lusciously soft- best mattress I've ever slept on! We slept deeply, which was a treat. Maryan made us reservations after suggesting many places to eat, and both she and Jeff made sure we had directions. Breakfast was wonderful and it gave us a chance to visit with our hosts, who were great conversationalists. Normally I would seek out another location for my next vacation, as I like to see a variety of places, but we want to come back here to experience this great inn and see it in a different season. I'm eager to see the grounds in spring as the house is set on a great piece of property overlooking the Connecticut River. They are in the middle of an addition, so there will be an even more tempting choice of rooms soon! We can't wait to visit her again.
